Dora Ireland is a fictional character in the Regents Walk comic series. She is known as a sweet-natured, somewhat timid girl who is being raised by her devout grandparents. She is one of the twelve Mains.

A student at Widow's Perch Elementary, Dora has a pleasant demeanor and outlook on life, and is willing to make friends with pretty much anyone. A young and naive Christian girl who is being shielded by her grandparents, she already has a troubled past. She was raised in Seattle by her drug-addled, punk scene mother, and was recently handed off to her local grandparents, who make her believe that her mother is simply "on vacation".

Big Blue (Chapter One)

After Mrs. Hambridge tells her and rest of the class the more innocent version of the story of Puritans passing on diseases to Native Americans, Dora introduces herself to Ms. Goodwin by proclaiming her love of Jesus, a trait that the play director shares. She is later part of the group making fun of Margaret at recess, but not used to the concept of teasing, is rather naive about the whole thing and simply adds that it's "not her fault she's named Maggot". She seems a little shocked when the victim then runs off crying.

During the first Thanksgiving play rehearsal, she is on stage with Ethan and several others, as one of the pilgrims. She is later Ethan's "computer buddy" in the media center lab, though she just observes idly, not really having any comprehension of what the machines are or what Ethan is doing as he figures them out and is more interested in passing on what he's already learned to his neighbor Aubrey.

At show and tell on a later day, Dora shows off a glass angel that he nana gave her when she moved to town.

Appearances In Stories

It's not clear if Channing even learns her name in School, as it's never mentioned directly. She does take notice of her pretty blue dress, however.

  • She is one of three Mains/Shadows not born in the area, the other two being Tom and Indira.
